Factory Basketball has a long history with athletes from Canton and the surrounding Plymouth-Canton community. Over the years, dozens of players from Plymouth, Canton and Salem High Schools, as well as Plymouth Christian Academy, have trained with The Factory or competed with Factory Basketball teams.
Many current Plymouth-Canton Community Schools students continue to train at The Factory, giving athletes from Canton access to both competitive team basketball and year-round individual development.
Factory Basketball founder and coach Rich Sherwood also has deep ties to the Canton community. A 16-year Canton resident, Rich has coached teams and athletes at Plymouth Christian Academy, Liberty Middle School and Canton High School, along with the Canton Cardinals travel baseball program.
Those connections have made Canton and the Plymouth-Canton community an important part of Factory Basketball's history.
A Proven Path to College Basketball
Since Factory Basketball's first graduating class in 2018, more than 50 Factory athletes have gone on to compete in college athletics, including NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and JUCO programs.
For athletes with goals of playing at the next level, our focus is on development, appropriate competition and helping players find the right college opportunity academically, athletically and personally.

Factory Basketball is based at The Factory, our dedicated basketball training facility at 6584 Commerce Drive in Westland, just east of Canton. Plymouth, Canton and Salem High Schools are approximately 11 minutes away.

Yes. Individual development is a major part of the Factory system. Depending on the season and team, athletes receive a training package allowing them access to specialized skills training, shooting, ball handling, finishing, strength and athletic-development opportunities in addition to regular team practices.
