Coach Rich has been coaching travel and high school baseball and basketball for 15 years.  He has sent dozens of players on to play at all levels of college basketball & baseball, including D1, D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO, and has had two players play professional baseball, with more on the way.  Coach Rich is the owner of the Factory, the Director of Michigan Factory Basketball, and the head coach of Michigan Factory Basketball 23 Orange.

Jalen Sykes

Head Coach Factory Boys 2027s


Coach Jalen Sykes played at Macomb Community College where they won the NJCAA championship in 2017 and St.Clair college where he averaged 22ppg.   Jalen also played professionally for the Windsor Express (NBL) and the Lansing Pharaohs (TBL).  Jalen fits perfectly at the Factory because he believes consistent execution of the fundamentals are the key to success as a basketball player.   Coach Sykes works with athletes of all ages and levels giving private lessons, teaching skills classes and is the Head Coach of the Boys 2027 teams.

Kate Sherwood

Coach Kate Sherwood was a 4 year letter winner at Wayne State University where she was a 2-Time GLIAC All-Conference 2nd Team Honoree, All-Defensive Team, Conference Player of the Week, playing in 99 games in her career amassing over 700 points, 400 rebounds, 200 assists, and 150 steals.  She was one of the top Free Throw shooters in the nation and all-time at WSU with a career FT% of 85.7%. Kate was also voted team captain her senior season.

Coach Sam Played 4 years at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, MI.  She teaches several classes at the Factory and coaches the 2025 Blue Team for Factory Basketball.

Coach Alvin assists in several of our Skills Classes and is also the head coach of the Factory Basketball Boys 6th Grade Orange team.

Coach Maya was our first former player to return as a coach.  She played basketball at Olivet College.  She assists with several of our Skills Classes and is also the head coach of the Factory Basketball Girls 2027 Orange team.
