A Long History With Downriver Basketball
Downriver Players Who Have Been Part of The Factory
Factory Basketball has a long history of working with outstanding girls basketball players from communities throughout Downriver.
Our connection with Riverview basketball has been especially strong. The majority of the Riverview girls varsity team that reached back-to-back State Quarterfinals in 2022 and 2023 trained at The Factory, played with Factory Basketball, or both.
That group included Samantha Dorn, who played at Riverview High School before continuing her basketball career at Concordia University. Samantha later returned to The Factory as a coach, helping develop the next generation of players.
Other Riverview athletes include Cadence Kaminske, who went on to play at Alma College, and Elyssa Kincaid, who continued her career at Cedarville University.
Our Downriver connections extend well beyond Riverview. Athletes from Grosse Ile, Woodhaven, Flat Rock, Airport High School and New Boston Huron have trained at The Factory and competed with Factory Basketball teams.
That includes sisters Sophia DiMilia, who went on to play at the University of Detroit Mercy and Northwood University, and Ava DiMilia, who continued her career at Northwood University.
We've also worked with Amy Jackson and Sara Serbantez of Flat Rock, along with many other Downriver athletes over the years.
From young players developing their games to varsity athletes competing deep into the state tournament and eventually playing college basketball, Downriver athletes have played an important role in Factory Basketball's history.

Factory Basketball is based at The Factory in Westland. Approximate drive times include 17 minutes from New Boston, 24 minutes from Taylor, 27 minutes from Brownstown, 31 minutes from Allen Park and 36 minutes from Riverview.
Have Downriver players played for Factory Basketball?
Yes. Factory Basketball has worked with players from Riverview, Woodhaven, Grosse Ile, Flat Rock, Airport High School, New Boston Huron and other Downriver schools and communities. Several of those athletes later continued their basketball careers in college.

How much travel is required?
Travel depends on the team and season. Some Factory teams compete primarily in Michigan and regional events, while our highest-level teams may play national exposure schedules. Team placement considers both ability and the level of travel commitment a family can make.
Does Factory Basketball help players develop outside of team practice?
Yes. Individual development is a major part of the Factory system. Depending on the season and team, athletes receive a training package allowing them access to specialized skills training, shooting, ball handling, finishing, strength and athletic-development opportunities in addition to regular team practices.
