Spring-Summer Boys & Girls Tryouts

Different/better results requires a different/better Process

If you are serious about taking your game to the next level, read on.

We do things DIFFERENT at the Factory.  NO OTHER PROGRAM OFFERS WHAT WE OFFER.  NO ONE!

In addition to our team practices (where we only work on team items), each of our players also has a membership at our training facility; The Factory in Westland.  That membership allows each of our players to attend all of our training classes Mon-Fri during the season allowing them access to high quality instruction 5 days a week.  These classes include:

  • Shooting Form
  • Handles
  • Pivot Foot
  • Off-Hand Development
  • Finishing School
  • Dimes (Passing)
  • Vertical Leap Class
  • Speed Class
  • Pre-Hab Strength Class
  • 60 Min Skills & Shooting

In addition to these classes, our athletes may also attend Member Open Shoot Mon-Fri afternoons from 3:00-4:30. Our system allows athletes to customize their training to fit their individual needs and schedule, providing them with the greatest opportunity to reach their potential and dreams.  That is why we don't just offer these classes, but expect our athletes to regularly attend them because the only thing that can limit their growth is their level of commitment and attendance.

After reading the above paragraphs, it should be pretty clear what type of players we are looking for; those who are serious about improving their game, have an internal drive to be their best, and are committed to putting in the work necessary to do so.  If that is you, we encourage you to complete the appropriate registration form below, and we will follow up with you with full details about tryouts.  We look forward to the journey.  See you soon!

Common Questions:

Q: What day(s) will my kid practice?  A: We do not know this until we know how many teams we will have and their makeup. What you can expect is that our top teams will generally have 2 practices a week. The local teams will generally practice twice one week then once the next week for an average of 1.5 practices per week.

Q: Who will my kids coach be? A: for most of the teams, we do not know that yet.  We have a dedicated group of coaches with different coaching styles. Once we see the makeup of our teams, we try to match our coaches up with the team that fits them best. It is easy to find parents willing to volunteer to coach their kids, it is much harder to find people who are good coaches, good people, and who fit our culture who are also willing to give this much of their time to coach someone else's kids.  Therefor some of our coaches coach more than one team, so we must not only match their personalities to their team, but have them coach teams who will play the same schedule, none of which we can know before finalizing teams.

Q: How much does it cost?  A: Beginning this past fall we split our players fees into two categories; Team Fees and Membership Fees.  Our membership Fees start at $195 a month for fees paid on a month to month basis.  You have the option of buying a longer membership to save money per month, but all players are required to maintain a membership during the season.  This is because all of our training classes are booked through the membership and we want our athletes regularly in the gym.  The second portion of your fees varies by team.  This portion covers their Practice times, events entry fees, coaches and their travel expenses.  This cost can range from $495 - $995 depending on the level of and number of events as well as their associated travel costs.  As an example, our top girls teams will be traveling to Louisville twice, to Cincinnati once, and to Grand Rapids three times, so their tournament and travel costs are much higher than those of our local teams.

Q: What will our schedule be?  A: That will depend on what team they make.  Teams are not always made up strictly by talent level, but also by what level of travel a player is willing to commit to.  A very talented player may be a on a lower local team because of other family obligations or playing multiple sports.  Our top National teams are not just for our best players, but for those who are talented AND are commited to that level of travel. If a player is not able to commit to the schedule, they can not be on the team because it is unfair to the rest of the team members. We will be posting our top teams schedules and examples of our local schedules as the season approaches, but top (national) teams can expect their season to run from late March through Memorial Day, then have a break for most of June.  They will then resume at the end of June and run through about July 25th.  Our local teams will begin in late March and run through Memorial Day weekend.

Q: We are busy or live far away so we can not commit to the training membership. Can we just do the team fees and not the membership?  A: NO. We only separated those costs to give our members more options to save money such as purchasing longer memberships or purchasing multi child memberships.  We are commited to the way we do things (our training system) and that is a cost we must cover. Being perfectly honest, those who can not attend our training do not get as much out of the season as the others do, and are not as happy with their experience, so if you are not able to commit to the training portion of being on one of our teams, you will likely be happier somewhere else. We don't like turning away players, but when players don't attend our training regularly, it tends to be frustrating for all involved, so we would rather avoid that before it happens.

Q: Do you offer Scholarships?  A: We realize that we are not the cheapest program, but we do provide the most value by far.  No other team or program offers what we offer, and to get what we offer in one place, you would need to go to at least three difference sources and pay 2-3 times (or more) what we charge.  We keep our costs as low as possible so we can keep our fees as affordable as possible.  This does not leave much extra, so scholarships are very few and are only need based, not talent based. We don't offer stud athletes free basketball so they will play for us. Instead when we as a staff see players who need to be in our environment, but who absolutely can not afford it, we cover part, or in some circumstances all, of their fees via the proceeds from our vending machine and spiritwear orders. So if you have a highly recruited player and are hoping for a free ride, just think we are expensive, or you live in bigger house than us with 6 kids, please do not ask about a scholarship. Those are for the kids who need this experience in their lives and have no way of paying for it. While we are on the topic, you can help us help those kids by ordering spiritwear and using our vending machine.
